POLICE have appealed for public help to solve a series of crimes in Altona North, Avondale Heights and Laverton North, which occurred last year.
On Saturday 6 November 2010 at about 2.22am, a man carrying a hammer entered a service station on Grieve Parade, Altona North.
The man approached the counter and demanded cash and cigarettes, but a customer entered the store and the man fled empty handed.
The man was wearing a black and white striped motor bike helmet, a black long sleeve top, grey tracksuit pants and white sports shoes.
At about 2.50am, a man then entered a service station on Military Rd, Avondale Heights and demanded cash from the till before leaving.
This time the man entered the store wearing a motor bike helmet which had a dark visor.
At about 3.10 am, a man wearing a motor bike helmet went to the locked front doors of the Laverton North Coles Express Service Station and demanded the attendant open them.
The attendant refused and the offender struck the doors with a hammer before leaving in a small black Toyota Corolla.
Police believe the same person might be responsible for all three incidents.
