POLICE have appealed for public help to solve a violent attack on a youth worker from Les Twentyman’s 20th Man Fund, which occurred in Altona on 2 July.
During the assault, five offenders robbed the male worker, stabbed him twice in the stomach and punched him several times.
Detective Markus Coch from the Embona Taskforce, based at Altona North Police Station, appealed for anyone with information or any witnesses to the incident to contact police.
He said the assault occurred between 6pm and 6.30pm along the Esplanade, between Surf St and Garden St.
The youth worker often works with teenagers in the Hobsons Bay and Maribyrnong municipalities. Before the crime, he was smoking when a male approached and asked him for a light.
Another offender held a knife to the victim’s throat and demanded his wallet, before the group of men began to hit him. Anyone with information can contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
