Purchase opens trail

RESIDENTS of Brooklyn will soon have easy access to the Federation Trail, with Hobsons Bay City Council purchasing a property in Cypress Ave last month.
The purchase, which has been labelled a “great outcome” for the people of Brooklyn by Hobsons Bay councillors, will see the popular Brooklyn Park linked with the trail.
Hobsons Bay mayor Michael Raffoul said the council had been looking for a property to provide a link to the trail for some time.
Though the council could not reveal the exact details about when the ‘link’ will be made to the trail or how much the council purchased the property for, further details are expected to be released in a report at a future council meeting.
“Before work begins, the council will consider a report to address landscaping, bike path widths and access points,” Cr Raffoul said.
“Federation trail is a popular bike route for cyclists across Melbourne’s West.
Adding that extra link to Brooklyn Park will enhance the trail and further maximise its use.”
In other news, the upgrade to the Duane Reserve car park is progressing.
Replacement of the playground at the reserve is scheduled for September.
