ALTONA Meadows’ very own Blake Testro will be performing in CLOC’s Musical Theatre production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Aspects of Love.
Aspects of Love tells the tale of passion, love, betrayal and loss over three generations of one family, spanning 20 years.
For classically trained singer Blake, the musical was the first opportunity to use his training in a classical role and really test his lung capacity.
“I was very keen to audition,” he said.
“I knew it would be a very challenging role – the whole show is sung the whole way through,” he said.
Blake started acting in high school and after Year 12 decided to try and make a go for it outside the school yard.
He has performed with Altona City Theatre, Williamstown Little Theatre and Williamstown Musical Theatre Company.
Blake said his role in Aspects of Love was not only physically challenging because he is singing for two hours straight but emotionally challenging as well.
“You never quite know how it’s going to finish,” he said.
“The characters are very flawed.”
The 26-year-old received his first professional gig earlier this year playing Danny Zuko in Grease in Brisbane and has 25 shows under his belt.
In future the budding star would like to play Gaston in Beauty and the Beast.
“Bad guys are always fun to play,” he said.
Aspects of Love opens on 23 September and runs until 8 October at the National Theatre in St Kilda. For more information call 1300 362 547 or visit www.cloc.org.au.
