NOMINATIONS are now open for the 2011 Hobsons Bay Sport and Recreation Awards.
Hobsons Bay mayor Michael Raffoul said the awards would recognise and acknowledge clubs who, through extraordinary contributions, have made positive impacts on Hobsons Bay.
“The inaugural awards were held in 2009 where the focus was on the individuals of a club, this time it’s all about the club,” Cr Raffoul said.
Clubs can nominate in five categories: Excellence in Volunteer Support; Commitment to Participation; Building Stronger Clubs; Community Development; and Facility Development.
“Nominations close on Wednesday 12 October and clubs must be located or have teams in the Hobsons Bay municipality. Nominations must be endorsed by the club committee and organisations can nominate one project that has occurred in the last two years in each category.”
Cr Raffoul said the awards will also offer an Inclusive Club Award and incorporate the Good Access Awards, both of which will recognise achievements of clubs in providing access for people with a disability.
The award ceremony will be on Wednesday 23 November.
Nomination forms and eligibility criteria are available at the Hobsons Bay Civic Centre, all Hobsons Bay libraries or online at www.hobsonsbay.vic.gov.au.
