A MAN has been charged following the alleged ramming of a police vehicle that left one police officer with a broken arm.
The incident occurred at a residence in Epson St, Laverton, where police were called to respond to a domestic violence situation, late last week.
It is alleged a Ford F350 drove at the Constable and Leading Senior Constable who were standing away from their police sedan and then proceeded to ram into the police car.
Hobsons Bay Inspector Bill Mathers said the police sedan was pushed across the road and through the freeway barrier causing extensive damage and writing off the vehicle.
“It is also alleged the driver then reversed the F350 back around and into a police divisional van before driving off and stopping up the road,” Insp Mathers said.
The driver, a man in his 40s, was arrested at the scene and has been taken to hospital under police guard.
He was remanded in custody following a bedside hearing, and was charged with conduct endangering life, making threats to kill, assault, assault police and traffic matters.
He has been remanded to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 11 October, 2011.
