Garden greats

Hobsons Bay City Council and The Substation present The Garden, a collaborative installation art project celebrating artists with a disability.
Local artists Myf Powell and Giovanna Inserra hosted workshops for people with a disability at the Williamstown Botanic Gardens, where organic objects and plant specimens were collected under the guidance of the head gardener.
Over four weeks the items collected were exposed to sunlight, sun-sensitive paper, water, paint, tin and photos to create an installation reminiscent of autumn.
The workshops and subsequent exhibition have provided people with a disability with access to an interesting, engaging and contemporary art project as well as the experience of a curated exhibition. Many of the participants had never been to the gardens or The Substation prior to the project.
The Garden will be officially launched on Friday 14 October from 6pm to 7.30pm and the exhibition will run until 30 October.
