STUDENTS from Williamstown Primary School and Altona College met a lifeguard at Life Saving Victoria State Centre last Tuesday as part of Children’s Week activities.
Students met a lifeguard as part of an interactive session to learn about water safety in a range of environments, including beaches, pools and inland waterways.
Life Saving Victoria hosted the session as part of Children’s Week, which celebrates children’s rights to enjoy childhood, in an educational and fun way.
Life Saving Victoria Manager Education Services Jane Flowers said that with summer fast approaching, it is of upmost importance to discuss water safety with children.
“The ‘Meet a Lifeguard’ session teaches students about the lifesavers and lifeguards who watch out for us at beaches and pools, covering important water safety messages including swimming between the flags and never swimming alone,” Ms Flowers said.
