Master plan for reserve

HOBSONS Bay City Council is developing a draft master plan for JT Gray Reserve and the community is invited to get involved.
Chair of the Project Working Group and Williamstown North Ward Cr Peter Hemphill said JT Gray Reserve on Kororoit Creek Road was a popular sporting facility.
“This reserve is home to four tenant sport clubs and has multiple fields for soccer and cricket,” Cr Hemphill said.
“The Hobsons Bay Coastal Trail is located within the reserve and the pavilion facilities and change rooms, which are heavily used, do not cater for female participants or referees adequately and have become too small for these growing clubs.
“The Williamstown Soccer Club rooms were a temporary measure and we recognise that a more permanent solution needs to be found.”
Cr Hemphill said the clubs were working well together to come up with options to suit all.
Hobsons Bay Mayor Michael Raffoul said the council would send surveys to surrounding residents and consult with reserve user groups and local schools.
Bike riders and pedestrians who use the coastal trail are also urged to take part.
“This master plan will guide development of the landscape, sporting infrastructure and facilities in the reserve over the next 10 years,” Cr Raffoul said.
