WORKERS at Baiada Poultry in Laverton North have continued their strike action despite a Supreme Court injunction to stop union officials from blocking vehicles at the site.
About 200 workers went on an indefinite strike last Wednesday following four months of wage and workplace condition negotiations with Baiada Poultry.
On Wednesday night things took an ugly turn when a security guard trying to get past the picket line in his car was allegedly attacked by the protesters as he tried to drive into the plant.
Police were called to the plant on Friday night to forcibly remove officials of the union from the picket line.
Baiada is the primary poultry provider for Coles supermarkets, Woolworths, Aldi, Nandos, KFC and Red Rooster.
Coles supermarkets have felt the brunt of the strike, with many of their supermarkets running out of chicken over the weekend.
Mr Moase said he believed the strike would lead to a positive dialogue with Baiada and a good resolution for everybody.
“We’ll be there for as long as it takes,” he said.
The company did not respond to requests for comment before Star went to press.
