Calling all young snappers

By VANESSA CHIRCOP
YOUNG people in Hobsons Bay are once again being invited to get snappy and start photographing their area.
The Pixel8 Photo Competition is on again with entries opening this week.
The photographic competition, which was the brainchild of Hobsons Bay Inspector Bill Mathers, encourages young people aged between 12 and 18 to view their community through the lens of a camera.
Insp Mathers said he thinks the competition went well last year but hopes to make it bigger and better in 2012.
“It really gives us the opportunity to showcase some of the skills and talents of our younger people while appreciating some of the great assets we have in Hobsons Bay,” he said.
“It’s a great way to show the community diversity of Hobsons Bay as well as showing the skills and artistic vision of young people.”
Hobsons Bay Cr Bill Tehan said Hobsons Bay City Council is once again proud to support the Pixel8 competition.
“As a councillor on the judging panel, I was very surprised by the amount of talent we have got out there in our youth,” he said.
“We look forward to a much bigger and exciting Pixel8 Competition this year.”
The competition in now open and runs until Monday 7 May.
An award ceremony will be held on Friday 25 May.
