VICTORIA University Secondary College opened their “state of the art” science building last week.
Staff and students gathered at the school on Wednesday to celebrate their new building, which was funded through the Federal Government’s Building the Education Revolution project.
The building has five classrooms, with science laboratories and an open design so that classes can interact.
Principal Genevieve Simson said the new building was an exciting addition to the Deer Park school.
“It’s a fantastic boost for us,” Ms Simson said.
She said the school had invited students from primary schools in the district to use the new facilities.
Derrimut Primary students and teachers have taken up the offer, sharing their resources and learning with the secondary school classes in a project Ms Simson referred to as “team-teaching”.
She said the building was also being used for other subjects, including the year 9 community development projects.
