MARYANNE Scott knows how hard it is to find that special someone.
She turned to online dating and agencies but had no luck with many of her dates lying about the important details on their profiles.
Fed up with the dating game, Maryanne decided to take matters into her own hands, opening up her own business ‘Single in the Suburbs’.
“People just lie online, on their photos and who they are,” she said.
“And dating agencies prey on vulnerable people and are only interested in money.”
Maryanne believes what makes her service unique is she personally screens every candidate before allowing them to take part.
“There are some lovely people out there who are tired of being used and abused.”
Once you pass the interview process, the genuine candidates are invited to a private dinner party where a speed dating arrangement takes place.
“I would be there to greet and introduce them, like speed dating but with a twist.”
Maryanne said she’s opening her business up to residents in Hobsons Bay and Maribyrnong areas to keep the couples local.
The match-maker said she wants to be taken seriously and doesn’t want to attract some of the sleazy people that are online.
“I really want to help people,” she said.
