Reconciliation Week

A FILM, forum, a guest speaker and an author talk will mark National Reconciliation Week celebrations in Hobsons Bay.
Hobsons Bay Mayor Tony Briffa said presenting cultural events in support of Aboriginal culture is consistent with the council’s Reconciliation Policy Statement and Action Plan.
“National Reconciliation Week runs from 27 May to 3 June and is a great opportunity to provide accessible and interesting events for the local community to help celebrate and be involved in Aboriginal culture,” Cr Briffa said.
“The council will also fly the Torres Strait Islander flag along with the Aboriginal flag at the Civic Centre and the Town Hall during Reconciliation Week.
“I encourage everyone in Hobsons Bay to celebrate the rich culture and history of the first Australians during this special time and support the Council’s activities.”

Recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People and will also celebrate NAIDOC Week from 1 to 8 July.
