Movie-style arrest

A CAR chase, helicopters and the dog squad were involved in an arrest worthy of a Hollywood movie.
Police were called to McCubbin Drive in Taylors Lakes at around 4pm on Monday 28 May following reports of an aggravated burglary.
Police spotted the suspect and a pursuit began, but was terminated a short time later because of the man’s erratic driving. The Victoria Police Airwing tracked the suspect’s movements to Main Rd East in St Albans, where the man allegedly attempted to force a police car off the road before performing a U-turn and crashing into a police car.
Undeterred, the Altona Meadows man fled on foot before being tracked down by the K9 unit.
He was arrested and taken to Keilor Downs Station before being assessed at Sunshine Hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries.
The 50-year-old was charged with aggravated burglary, reckless conduct endangering life, resisting arrest and making threats to kill.
He has been remanded in custody to appear in the Sunshine Magistrates’ Court on 6 June.
