HOBSONS Bay City Council last week presented Certificates of Appreciation to Charles Kwong and Vicki Davidson for their service to the council’s audit committee.
Mr Kwong and Ms Davidson had been on the committee for about 10 years, with Mr Kwong being the chair during that time.
Councillor Peter Hemphill said over those 10 years he had a great experience working beside the two residents.
“(The audit committee) looks over the systems and processes and makes sure there’s no corruption or other issues that impinge on the governance or the finances of the organisation,” Cr Hemphill said.
Ms Davidson said the certificate of appreciation was quite unexpected.
“I enjoyed my time on the committee and I can honestly say the members of the committee … all took their responsibilities very seriously,” she said.
“I’m sorry not to be going forward on the committee, but that’s the nature of audits, you can’t stay for all time.”
Mr Kwong was unable to attend the council meeting.
