AS A MEMBER of Altona City Theatre, Patt Ryan has experienced the magic of theatre through many productions.
Mr Ryan is the senior vice-president and event director of the theatre company – which is celebrating 40 years of operation this year.
To commemorate the company’s past four decades, a gala dinner and performances from through the ages will be held on Saturday 25 August at St Augustine’s Hall in Yarraville.
The Altona City Theatre (ACT) president James Morgan said anyone who had been involved with the troupe was welcome to attend the evening.
“Attendees can expect good food, great company and a chance to celebrate how this company grew from a small-time operation in a high-school hall to one of the biggest and oldest amateur theatre companies in Victoria today,” he said.
“We just want to put the word out to as many people as possible – if you’ve sewed a button for us, focused a light, or tread the boards this function is for you.”
Mr Morgan said organisers were also hoping to track down mementos from past ACT concerts.
“From the very first mention of this event, we’ve been inundated with old photos and videos from past shows, and we’re really counting on getting our hands on some more of these treasured rarities from our past,” Mr Ryan said.
“It’s not every day that a community group like ours gets to celebrate 40 years of operation.”
The event will be held at 6.30pm on Saturday at St Augustine’s Hall, 71 Somerville Rd, Yarraville. Tickets include a three-course meal, non-alcoholic refreshments and entertainment.
