Council meeting moves to Williamstown

THE next ordinary Hobsons Bay City Council Meeting will be held at the Williamstown Town Hall on 12 February instead of the usual Altona chambers.

Mayor Angela Altair said the move would help ensure the council was accessible to all areas of the municipality.

“This will be the first official council meeting in the Williamstown Town Hall Council Chamber for almost two decades,” Cr Altair said.

“It’s important we as councillors get around to all corners of the municipality so we can see first-hand the problems and issues.

“My mayoral program aims to promote civic pride and develop ownership of our wonderful city.”

The mayor said there would be a pre-meeting performance by Hayley Edwards, accompanied by Jennifer Lund, from 6.45pm before the meeting starts at 7pm.

“My mayoral program will focus on support for the arts, youth, community involvement, business and the environment,” Cr Altair said.

“As such, I will re-introduce occasional performances prior to meetings of the council to promote the local arts scene.”

Members of the gallery are requested to be seated by 6.30pm and have been invited to join the mayor and councillors for refreshments after the council meeting.

The Williamstown Town Hall is located at 104 Ferguson St in Williamstown.
