A report in last week’s Star (City stalls footy club’s extra pokies bid, Page 3) stated that Hobsons Bay Council had deferred an application to the Victoria Commission for Gambling and Liquor Regulation (VCGLR) to increase the number of gaming machines at the Seagulls Nest Hotel in Newport. In fact, the council has decided to make a submission to the VCGLR regarding the application.
Further, the article incorrectly stated that Cr Colleen Gates had developed the report, tabled at the council meeting. The report was, in fact, developed by council officers. The report also incorrectly attributed a quote from the council’s Director of Planning and Environment, Peter Gaschk, to Cr Gates. Star would like to apologise for the errors.
