AFTER working an impressive 60 years full-time Charlie Muliett can’t wait to spend more time with his family.
This week the lifetime Altona resident will not only celebrate his retirement but the exact 60 year anniversary he first entered the work force.
Mr Muliett spent 56 of those years working at Heatane Gas and Mobil in Williamstown.
The family-orientated resident along with his wife Maria said he had no plans other than spending time with his family.
And with six children and 22 grandchildren, the couple should have have no trouble keeping busy.
More than seven years ago, a health scare almost forced Mr Muliett out of work, but by the doctor ordered he stayed at work for his health.
“The reason I kept working because I had prostate cancer and doctor said you’ve got to keep working to keep active,” Mr Muliett said.
Daughter Grace Azzopardi said the doctor believed working was an important key to why he is doing so well.
“The doctor thinks the key to his health has been working,” Ms Azzopardi said.
Now that he’s retired Ms Azzopardi said the family would make sure to keep him busy.
Mr Muliett said he won’t miss the work but he would miss the people.
“I thought I better retire now, what I’ve got left I want to look after it and enjoy it.”
