A full-time photographer achieved a career high when he saw his work on the front page of the yellow pages for the first time.
Altona resident Tsung-Heng Kuo has won the inaugural Capture the Cover photographic competition.
The image, a moody shot of boats off Williamstown will be exposed to thousands on the cover of the new South Western Region Yellow Pages alongside nine runner-up photos taken by locals.
It is the first time yellow pages has opened its covers up to the public, who were asked to capture their favourite part of their community in a click.
The professional photographer said he was excited, but did not expect to see his shot on the new yellow pages book.
“You never really imagine taking a photo that ends up on the cover of the yellow pages,” Mr Kuo said.
“I think every time I use the book over the next 12 months, I’ll get a bit of a buzz looking at the cover.”
Mr Kuo studied photography in 1995 when he was a university student in Taiwan.
“I always like to capture beautiful photos of the place I am living in.”
“The photo submitted for the competition is one of my favourite shots and I thought it reflected the area very well.”
