A group of boys from two different Hobsons Bay Lifesaving Clubs dominated a recent competition and helped contribute to an overall win for the metropolitan region.
Lifesaving Victoria conducted a Youth inter-regional competition at Ocean Grove and Geelong recently.
The under-13, under-14 and under-15 boys and girls were put in teams of five that represented five different regions of Victoria including Metropolitan, Surf coast, Peninsula, East coast, west coast in beach and pool competition.
Of the five teams four under-13 boys selected came from Hobsons Bay including Chris Breedon, Jesse Coulson, Lachlan Rich from the Williamstown Life Saving Club and Saxon Davidson from the Altona club.
The boys were selected based on their performance over the past season at beach carnivals and pool events.
The boys battled tough conditions in the surf at Ocean Grove in a variety of events.
Twelve-year-old Lachlan said he was happy to make it into a team and enjoyed the competition.
“To win as a whole team for an eighth year in a row it’s good to keep that much of a record run,” Lachlan said.
He said another fun part about competitions is meeting new people from other areas and clubs.
“(I enjoy) the people that you meet and how you meet all the people from other regions.”
