INDEPENDENT film-maker Amanda Duckworth will attempt to capture audiences through her new television series that draws on real-life experiences.
The 19-year-old Altona resident is currently producing, directing and writing a TV drama series titled ‘Clique’.
Miss Duckworth said Clique tackles everyday issues teenagers face in a “real and relatable” way.
A passionate writer, Miss Duckworth started exploring the craft at the age of 15 and was encouraged to persist by her enthusiastic drama teacher.
“I wrote mainly feature films, last year I was doing a bit of acting working on a short film, that was the first time I had done anything for TV or film, I realised I could do the producing side of things.”
Clique was originally written as a feature film and adapted to TV by Miss Duckworth last year.
“I love writing and I know it’s what I’m supposed to do.”
Drawing on inspiration from her own experiences growing up as a teenager, she quickly became comfortable exploring topics that other 16-year-olds could relate to.
“I started writing about teenagers … (at the) age of 16 everyone starts growing up or trying.”
“I wrote the first series and had so much interest in the project I couldn’t not try and give it a go.”
The series, which Miss Duckworth described as a “real, raw and relatable” teen drama leaves nothing untold with a focus on friendships and relationships.
“It’s really close to home, so many relationship are drawn on personal experience, that’s what makes it real.”
“Teenagers haven’t seen something like Clique, they’ll really enjoy it and it could help a lot of people dealing with issues every day.”
In May Miss Duckworth will pitch the series to five interested commercial and one international network.
