Falcons fight out for draw

CITY West Falcons fought out a nail-biting draw against Peninsula Waves in the Victorian Netball League last week.
It was a case of the one that got away for the Falcons after they led at every change and by as much as six early in the match.
However, late in the game City West found itself three goals down. The Falcons managed to fight back to lead by one goal with 30 seconds to go.
There was one final twist though as Peninsula managed to lock the scores up at 48-48 in the dying seconds.
City West coach Marg Lind was disappointed her team didn’t capitalise on its good start.
“I thought we were in a position to win the game,” she said.
“We had a really good first half and I just felt our mid-court took their foot off the pedal and let them back in.
“Once that happened we didn’t penetrate to the top and certainly didn’t get enough action in the ring from the feed.
“There were a couple of really bad errors towards the end that were costly.”
The result sees City West remain in third spot on the VNL ladder with six wins, one loss and now two draws for the season.
This week the Falcons will take on DC North East Blaze.
