OSCAR-winning animation director and writer Adam Elliot is looking forward to having a “fire-side” chat about his revered work.
Adam is celebrating the 10-year anniversary of his short film Harvie Krumpet, the tale of a Polish Tourettes sufferer who escapes World War I in Europe by emigrating to Australia and settling in Spotswood.
He has been invited as a guest and will speak to Justin Dix of Wicked of Oz Studios as part of this year’s Williamstown Literary Festival.
Adam will spend 30 minutes talking candidly about the film and what he has been doing since then in what he described as a “fire-side chat and reminisce”.
“I’ve been writing for two and a half years. I wear many different hats writing directing, animators and sculptors.”
He said he was quite impressed by the program and was happy to come along and share some of his own writing wisdom and could inspire other budding writers.
“It all starts with a script and a story – without a good story you don’t have a good film,” Mr Elliot said.
“I emphasise the importance of the script in film-making, I really want to talk about writing.”
Other festival highlights include Australia’s best-selling children’s author, Andy Griffiths telling his jokes and thrilling kids of all ages, Australian television presenter, comic and writer Charlie Pickering and Steve Bracks.
The festival which will celebrate 10 years this year is on from 29 May to 2 June at the Williamstown Library and Town Hall.
Full festival program is available at willylitfest.org.au.
