BIANCA Anderson is getting ready for her next big adventure that will see her travel to Zambia for one month.
But before she can leave she needs some help to get there.
The Kingsville resident was one of two Australians and 48 people world-wide invited to attend the 2013 International Design Development Summit (IDDS).
Bianca said participating in the International Development Design Summit was a dream opportunity to take action to use her skills and education to support others.
Bianca said she aims to raise $4000 to cover return flights to Zambia from Melbourne, board and lodging for the duration of the summit, vaccinations and visa costs.
She has nearly raised half this amount but is now appealing to the generosity of other people and community groups to help support her trip.
Bianca said IDDS recognises that there are people with ideas for solutions to problems that affect the communities they live in.
“I look forward to using my skills and my ideas and contributing and learning from everyone else that’s there,” she said.
Bianca said the 2013 summit would focus on working with disadvantaged people in a community, to produce technologies that not only improved lives but also offered opportunities for social entrepreneurship.
“I’ll be there to contribute to support an individual, team and community who otherwise wouldn’t have been given the opportunity,” she said.
“These technologies will be developed in collaboration with the community and improve the lives of those living in poverty.”
