A GROUP inspired by culture and the arts is helping to relive the isolation of new parenthood and rediscover a passion for all things creative.
Culture Mamas is a brand new arts and culture organisation.
Old friends, new mothers and locals Rebecca Asp and Claire McClelland, launched Culture Mamas in Spring 2012.
Culture Mamas craft a program of events that showcase Melbourne’s thriving arts scene and nourish the minds of culture-hungry parents while welcoming their little ones.
The idea for the organisation was inspired by Rebecca’s own experience with new motherhood after the birth of her baby girl Violet.
“For many mums, those first years of a baby’s life can be isolating,” Claire said.
“Taking a break from the daily grind and connecting with the adult world of ideas can give parents the boost they need.”
“Culture Mamas offers parents an opportunity to attend arts and culture events that are emotionally and intellectually satisfying and provide lasting benefits to both parent and child.”
The group is proud to present Go-Go Mama Dance Session.
The Go-Go Mama Dance session held in Williamstown, allows mums and dads to bust a move with their baby strapped on or their toddler twisting beside them.
Claire said the session will be a super fun way for parents to improve their cardio fitness and keep warm on a wintery morning in the West.
Led by hostess Gabi Barton the dance lesson will let parents burn up the floor while they do the Monkey, Pony, Swim and Hustle.
The little ones will be free to participate or play while the grown-ups smile, sweat and strut their stuff.
Go-Go Mama Dance Session will be held on Friday 30 August from 10.30am to 11.30am at the Church of Christ, corner Douglas Parade and John Street, Williamstown. Tickets cost $20 (children are free).
