Fashion fix in store

FASHION designers from across Melbourne will collaborate in an exclusive pop-up shop hosted by arts and cultural hub The Substation, Newport.
Temporary retail group POP IT will feature at The Substation for an exclusive four days this month to celebrate Independent Melbourne Fashion.
The event opened on Sunday together with the monthly Substation Artists’ Market and will be open to the public from 11am to 5pm on Friday 11, Saturday 12 and culminate on Sunday 13 October.
POP IT will showcase the work of more than 22 independent fashion designers.
Markets and Pop Up Events producer Marisa Fiume invited people to wander through the assortment of delectable stalls en route to the pop-up shop.
“From glitz and glam to wearable every day, you can be sure to find something new for your wardrobe and at the same time supporting your local designers,” she said.
“Fantastical interior display, distinctive of POP IT’s temporary retail creations will draw you in plus the added spectacle of this industrial beauty, The Substation.”
Marisa said The Substation will be fitted out as a short-term shop and feature an array of fashion designers and emerging designer’s collections.
“There will be different styles of fashion from streetwear to eveningwear and accessories as well.”
She said they were excited to welcome the pop up shop at the Substation for the first time.
“It’s something we want to experiment with so we can try and see if we can have more of these (events) in the future.”

POP IT was created by Melbourne fashion designers Elsje Jordan Stephanie Malatino to support local designers, their brands and provide them with a retail opportunity.
