CELEBRITY author Peter FitzSimons will entertain and discuss his latest book about Australia’s most iconic figure in Hobsons Bay tomorrow.
Mr FitzSimons delves into the story of Australia’s most notorious legend in his new book, Ned Kelly, which he will present at the Williamstown Town Hall tomorrow at 1pm.
“I am really looking forward to coming to Melbourne and talking about my favourite subject – Ned Kelly,” Mr FitzSimons said.
“Beyond being perhaps the most iconic Australian who ever lived – and I stand by that phrase, whether you love him or hate him – I also think he is one of the most fascinating.”
Ned Kelly has been at the heart of Australian culture and identity since he and his gang were tracked down in bush land by Victorian police and came out fighting, dressed in bulletproof iron armour made from farmers’ ploughs.
Historians still disagree over virtually every aspect of Ned’s brushes with the law.
“A good man or a bad man? I’d like to think I have written the book in a way so that the reader can be with Ned every step of the way, and decide for themselves.”
FitzSimons is Australia’s biggest selling non-fiction author of the last 10 year and was named as a Member of the Order of Australia for service to literature.
He is the author of more than 20 books and a journalist with The Sydney Morning Herald and Sun-Herald.
FitzSimons will discuss his book inside the chamber of the Williamstown Town Hall on Wednesday 6 November at 1pm at 104 Ferguson St.
