ALTONA Magic has re-instilled its faith in Pece Stojevski after a promising 2013 season in State League One football.
Magic confirmed Stojevski as its senior coach for 2014 after he led a somewhat youthful side to a sixth-place finish in his first year in charge.
Club football director Rubin Todrovski said Magic was happy to re-sign Stojevski after a year that had its fair share of positives.
“The club put their faith in Pece and in what his ideas were and what sort of structure he wanted to put in place regarding the team,” Todrovski explained.
“I could probably say that (last) year was a bit of a hit and miss, but because we’ve got a young side, you’ve got to expect that.
“Overall, we can’t really say it was a good season or it was a bad season, but you could probably say it was fairly consistent.”
Magic went undefeated for three rounds at the beginning of the year before dropping four of its next five encounters.
Another undefeated stretch of nine games then followed for Altona, before local SL1 rivals Werribee City and Sunshine George Cross effectively knocked Magic out of the promotion race late in the season.
Todrovski said injuries and a lack of scoring power up front cost his club through the middle portions of the season.
“After three rounds we were on top, and I think up until round six we were sitting second or third, but then we lost Melvin Becket and a few others through injury – which kind of put us on a bit of a downslide,” Todrovski said.
“We probably dominated most of those matches, but that’s football. If you don’t take your chances you get punished, and that’s the way it goes.”
Last week, the club announced Robert Spasevski as its new under-20s coach.
Meanwhile, Magic is also hoping to field a senior women’s side for the upcoming season.
