FOLLOWING a month of fund-raising activities in June, Port Macquarie radio station 2MCFM raised almost $50,000 for the annual Give Me 5 For Kids campaign.
The $48,960 will be split between the Port Macquarie, Kempsey, Macksville and Wauchope hospitals, which will be used to purchase vital medical equipment to specifically assist sick and injured children.
It’s the third consecutive year a record amount has been achieved, surpassing last year’s effort by almost $5000.
Since 2005, the Give Me 5 For Kids campaign has raised more than $291,000.
The radio station’s fundraising co-ordinator Nik James said his team was overwhelmed by the response to the campaign.
“The money kept flowing in long after we passed this year’s target of $33,000,” he said.
“The incredibly generous donations of coins, cash and cheques from individuals, community groups, local businesses, schools, clubs and organisations shows the high regard and importance people have placed on the campaign and the work of our local hospitals.”
