NSW Deputy Premier and Oxley MP Andrew Stoner announced last Friday that the Mid North Coast Local Area Command would receive five additional experienced officers.
“The NSW Government made a commitment to increase police resources by up to 90 additional police officers for Local Area Commands in Northern Region,” Mr Stoner said.
“This is proof we are getting on with the job of delivering improvements for the people of the Mid North Coast.
“After meeting with Superintendent Paul Fehon I am pleased to confirm that recruitment is currently being undertaken to fill the five positions.
“These officers may be new to the area of the Mid North Coast but not to the role of police officers.
“The NSW Government will continue to provide our police officers and local communities with the resources they need to keep our streets safe.”
Senior police welcomed the news, saying the new officers would boost police numbers in the area from 154 to an authorised strength of 159.
The positions, which are in the process of being filled, will be for frontline police of the rank of Constable or Senior Constable.
“I am delighted to have five new and experienced officers moving to the area. The injection of these new positions will assist us in providing a better service to the growing communities within the Mid North Coast,” Mid North Coast Local Area Commander, Superintendent Paul Fehon said.
“The allocation of the additional officers means more police on the beat, increased patrols and greater police coverage of the area.
The officers will be based at stations across the Mid North Coast Local Area Command and performing general duties roles.
