Grants for history

A NUMBER of State Government grants have been awarded for service providers in Port Macquarie.
Member for Port Macquarie Leslie Williams said funding had been provided to the Port Macquarie Historical Museum from the Arts Minister George Souris for a couple of very worthwhile projects to “enhance the great work being carried out at the museum to showcase the history of the Hastings”.
“I’m happy to announce that $7,500 has been granted to Museums Australia – Mid North Coast Chapter towards the Special Collections, Special Stories display and $1,950 to help improve storage for textile storage,” Mrs Williams said.
“The Port Macquarie Historical Museum plays a vital role in preserving our history and these funding grants will go a long way to ensure their great work continues.”
The Port Macquarie Historical Society has also been given a grant of $1500 for the Curious Case of Thomas Dick project, which will be on the form of a publication on the life of renowned photographer Thomas Dick.
“I am also pleased to announce that the Minister for Citizenship and Communities Victor Dominello has granted St Agnes Parish Port Macquarie with $5700 to improve the Port Macquarie Music Hub project,” Mrs Williams said.
“The funding is one of 28 projects around NSW sharing in $1.93 million for Youth Opportunity projects.
“While these grants are not huge, they do enable a range of small to medium ventures to be undertaken.”
