WESTPORT High School students excelled in the Interschool Chess Competition.
Held at Westport Public School recently, the secondary competition included teams from Westport High School, St Columba Anglican School and St Josephs Regional College.
The contest consisted of seven, 30 minute round-robin matches.
The standard was high and the matches hard fought under time pressure. However, Westport students proved equal to the challenge, with the school taking out the teams event and Darrell Chandley-Pascoe claiming first in the individual section with a very impressive 6.5/7 score.
