A GOOD roll-up of church and community representatives attended the Mayoral Thanksgiving Breakfast at Panthers on Saturday morning.
Mayor Peter Besseling welcomed the guests, who included MPs David Gillespie and Lesley Williams, deputy mayor Adam Roberts and several church pastors. The breakfast was chaired by Archdeacon John West from St Thomas’ Anglican Church.
The mayor spoke about plans for future development of the Glasshouse forecourt by the council and wrote another of his now infamous witty poems for the occasion. He introduced the guest speaker, former Wallabies and Brumbies Super 15 rugby player James Holbeck. James told some rollicking rugby stories and also of how he came to faith in Jesus Christ. Everyone present said they enjoyed James’ talk and the challenge it presented to the churches and the community on “living what we preach” .
Plans are underway for the 2015 Mayoral Thanksgiving Breakfast for 30 May, and an invitation is being sent to NSW Premier Mike Baird to be the guest speaker.
