PORT Macquarie Memory Walk and Jog has undergone a makeover – and Alzheimer’s Australia NSW is calling on you to get your entry in now and start fund-raising to help make this year the biggest and best yet.
Alzheimer’s Australia NSW’s major fund-raising event, the walk-cum-jog contributes to support, education and advocacy services for the estimated 1700 people living with dementia in Port Macquarie.
Early-bird registrations for the 2014 event close on Monday 26 May, and Alzheimer’s Australia NSW regional manager North Coast Gary Thomas urged the community to join him in the race against dementia by registering as soon as possible.
“The event helps raise much-needed funds to help support people with dementia, their families and carers in Port Macquarie, and it is a fun way for people in the community to show their support for family members and friends who have dementia,” Mr Thomas said.
“I’ve taken part quite a few times and it has always been an enjoyable community event. This year we’d like to see a record number of people taking part right across the region.
“It will be lots of fun, so rally your friends, family, work colleagues and get them to enter with you, plan your fund-raising activities and come along.”
The Port Macquarie Memory Walk and Jog will be held at Westport Park in Port Macquarie on 31 August. Participants can choose from a 2km walk, a 7.5km walk or a 7.5km run.
