Reserve set for flood repairs

Rocks Ferry Reserve - its long-awaited facelift is about to start.

RESTORATION works will commence within the next fortnight at Rocks Ferry Reserve in Wauchope.
Port Macquarie-Hastings Council’s infrastructure delivery group manager Gary Randall said contract documents for the project had been signed by mayor Peter Besseling.
The contract has been awarded to the Port Macquarie-based Bridle Group.
Mr Randall said it had been estimated the project would take approximately 10 weeks to complete, weather permitting, with contractors expected to finish up on-site at the end of July.
The total cost of the repair works is approximately $290,000.
The council will use design documentation from previous improvement works to ensure the reserve is restored to its former state.
Significant improvements were undertaken at Rocks Ferry Reserve as part of Council’s 2010/11 and 2011/12 works programs. Unfortunately the popular reserve on the banks of the Hastings River sustained extensive damage in the floods of February 2013.
