Fine art facelift

THE Hastings Valley Fine Art Association now has a new home – thanks to a public appeal and wonderful community support.
Situated at 2 William Street, Port Macquarie, it is a cottage in the grounds of the Maritime Museum adjacent to Flagstaff Hill.
The cottage has been a hive of activity with cleaning, maintenance and painting being carried out with help from Maritime Museum workers.
The new and improved Hastings Fine Art Gallery will have its official opening at 2pm on Saturday 12 July. There will be a large variety of original paintings in all mediums, framed and unframed; drawings; sculpture; beautiful hand crafted jewellery and cards, all for sale at reasonable prices. In addition, visitors to the gallery will enjoy the experience of a historic site and unparalleled views to Oxley Beach.
Association president Brian Barker said they were very grateful to be given the opportunity to re-establish the gallery, and also have extra spaces for their library, meetings and other activities.”
“The HVFAA and the Maritime Museum members are confident that this will prove to be a mutually beneficial relationship for both groups,” he said.
The gallery hours are 10am until 4pm, Thursday to Sunday and public holidays, entry is free. Watch an artist at work or just view the ever changing display of creativity.
