Feeling blue? Then light up

PORT Macquarie residents are being urged to replace their tyre valve caps with special blue caps throughout September and October to support the Leukaemia Foundation.
The caps will glow in the dark to “light the night”.
Bridgestone Tyre Centre in Port Macquarie is selling the blue valve caps for $2 (per set of four), with all proceeds to be donated to the Leukaemia Foundation as part of the organisation’s fund-raising efforts for its annual Light the Night initiative.
“Bridgestone is a principal partner of Light the Night, the Leukaemia Foundation’s series of twilight walks held across the country,” said Dinesh Thakrani, owner of Bridgestone Tyre Centre in Port Macquarie.
“Participants light up the night by walking with different coloured lanterns – it’s all about symbolising hope, remembering a loved one and supporting critical research.
“Our blue valve caps are an extension of this idea and will be a great way for the whole community to get involved. We’re encouraging people to wear their blue caps with pride to light up the night – and the road.”
