FOUR decades of hits, four decades of touring and legendary Australian band The Angels are still making great music.
Celebrating their 40th anniversary this year (1974-2014), the band is hitting the road for an extensive Australian tour and releasing two commemorative albums. Liberation Music and Alberts are proud to announce the most extensive, career-spanning Greatest Hits albums ever released.
The Angels – Volume 1 – 40 Greatest Studio Hits features every hit, some ground-breaking album tracks and a few rare gems to round out the package. It’s all Angels, all classics, all rock.
The Angels – Volume 2 – 40 Greatest Live Hits is a three-disc, 40-track collection that cherry picks the band’s expansive stretch of live recordings from their beginnings in the 1970s through to the current day – and everything in between.
Lead guitarist Rick Brewster says the band will also be launching a website with a full history section for each member past and present.
“After being part of The Angels for the past four decades, I have been privileged to work with every line-up of the band over the years,” he said.
“We would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the efforts of all the musicians who have been members of the band over its 40-year history, as well as everyone who has contributed to all our albums and tours. They have helped shape the band and kept the creative juices flowing.
“We are excited by the release Talk The Talk this year – another album of all new material – and we continue to be as well received as ever.
“We are proud of the band and we intend to keep rocking for many years to come.”
Rhythm guitarist John Brewster says the band can’t wait to get out on the road and celebrate with fans. He said the live shows wouldn’t just be about the songs, but also about sharing memories from The Angels’ past.
“These releases and the tour that goes with this anniversary of the formation of the band celebrate the proud history that we have in live performance,” he said.
“That history includes each and every one who has played in the band over the years, everyone who has worked with the band, from the roadies to management, to record company representatives, booking agencies and most importantly the fans.
“We’ve loved it, it has always been the biggest thrill to play live and we intend to continue.
“The 40th anniversary tour gives us a great opportunity to celebrate with our fans the fantastic collection of songs that we’ve written over the years.”
The Angels – Volume 1 – 40 Greatest STUDIO Hits and The Angels – Volume 2 – 40 Greatest Live Hits were released on Friday 2 May through Liberation Music.
The Angels are Dave Gleeson (vocals), Rick Brewster (lead guitar), John Brewster (rhythm guitar), Sam Brewster (bass) and Nick Norton (drums).
They will be playing at the North Haven Bowling and Recreation Club on Saturday 7 June from 8pm, supported by ViAgro. Tickets cost $40 and are on sale at the club or purchase online at www.nhbrc.com.au
