Spill clean-up

A DIESEL spill on the Hastings River on Tuesday has made national headlines.
Even the Daily Mail Australia and the Townsville Bulletin newspapers reported the spill, which is believed to have come from a fishing trawler.
The diesel contaminated a 400-500 metre section of the river from the mouth back towards Town Green.
Fire Rescue NSW’s hazardous materials unit in Port Macquarie deployed a specialised vehicle to mop up the spill, which experts say poses no immediate environmental risk.
The cause was still being investigated at the time of going to press.
