One-man mission set to rock

THIS Saturday 24 May, Chuck E and the Rock and Roll Show will be showcasing four hours of hits from the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s in the auditorium of the Wauchope RSL Club in support of Lifeline Mid Coast.
Chuck E is hoping to raise enough money to sponsor a telephone crisis supporter. The demands on Lifeline’s 13 11 14 crisis line, and other crisis support and suicide prevention services continue to climb as suicide remains the leading cause of death for Australians aged 15-44, accounting, for more than one in five deaths of younger Australians: for males between 15-34 years of age, and for females between 15-24 years of age.
“With an ever-increasing demand on the service, telephone crisis supporters are a welcomed volunteer force, as the demand is set to grow,” Lifeline Mid Coast head of training Di Bannister said.
“Projections are that Lifeline will be receiving one million calls a year within a few years.”
Versatile entertainer Chuck Murray is a one-man band, who has a penchant for the music he grew up listening to.
Performing as Chuck E, he was born in the middle of the baby boomer generation and started to perform professionally in 2011.
A talented vocalist, Chuck E performs authentic hits from the ’50s and ’60s, but not just the famed rock and roll era, but some ’70s and country too.
Chuck E has performed at various clubs and pubs between Newcastle and Coffs Harbour, with his most recent performance being at the Glasshouse in Port Macquarie last month.
He was the first performer at the Wintersun Festival in Port Macquarie and did six gigs in eight days.
If you enjoy the hits of Elvis Presley, Bill Haley, Chuck Berry, Fats Domino, Cliff Richard, Buddy Holly, Ricky Nelson, Johnny Cash, the Everly Brothers, the Beach Boys, Johnny O’Keefe and more, then you are bound to enjoy the show.
Doors open at 6.30pm and admission is $5 for adults.
