CONSTRUCTION on a $3.3-million upgrade of Port Macquarie Private Hospital is officially underway.
Federal Lyne MP Dr David Gillespie turned a symbolic first sod on Wednesday.
The works include the extension of the current rehabilitation facility for post-surgery and post-stroke, a hydro-therapy pool, increased gym area, extended multi-purpose area and extra bedrooms.
The extensions will ensure greater flexibility for the area’s private health patients and more services for extended in-patient programs, as well as the introduction of a day rehabilitation program.
The project is being co-funded by the Australia Government.
