Call goes out

The committee is keen to recognise residents between 12 and 25 years who live, work or study in the area and make an outstanding contribution as part of National Youth Week.
Melton Shire Council acting mayor Broden Borg said that the YAC awards were a fantastic initiative.
“A large proportion of our municipality is made up by young people and the YAC awards recognise their achievements and show our appreciation,” Cr Borg said.
The nominator can be any person associated with the nominee through school, religious affiliation and sports clubs. Parents and relatives are not permitted to nominate their own family member.
The Youth Advisory committee coordinates an independent assessment process to decide the winners.
Winners will receive two grants of either $500 for personal grants or $5000 for project grants.
“The grants are a great way for council to support young people to reach their full.
“The YAC grants aim to provide support and assistance to young people and provide opportunities to raise the profile of young people.”
Award nominations and grant applications open on 1 February and close on 24 February.
Forms are available from Melton Shire Council Youth Services located at 193 Barries Rd, Melton and council’s website www.melton.vic.gov.au
