A WOMAN was sexually assaulted after hitchhiking to Melbourne last week.
The 38-year-old accepted a lift from Ballarat to Melbourne with a truck driver on Sunday 19 February.
The driver pulled over along the Altona-bound lanes on the Western Ring Rd at around 11am in Sunshine and sexually molested the woman. She managed to escape the truck and fled the scene.
