IT’S the year of milestone birthdays in Keilor with the suburb celebrating 150 years and well-loved Keilor Bowls Club celebrating its 50th birthday.
And everyone is invited to join the anniversary celebrations.
The Keilor Bowls Club Inc. will celebrate its 50th birthday together with the Keilor 150 program at a Barefoot Bowls Tournament.
Local sports clubs and residents are being encouraged to take to the green and celebrate with round robin style tournament.
The Keilor Bowls Club special projects officer Keith Hinks said it would be a fun night for all.
“We want to get everyone on the green to have a bit of fun and celebrate both birthdays,” Mr Hinks said.
“It’s about showcasing our club and meeting people from other community clubs while having fun,” he said.
This will mark the second birthday celebration for the bowls club who already celebrated with members past and present at a party at their club house.
“We still like to celebrate the whole year as our 50th year, we are not just stopping at one party,” Mr Hinks said.
Mr Hinks hoped more people within the community would try bowls, including youth who can join the new junior bowls program at the club.
“It doesn’t matter what age you are, size you are or what ability you have anyone can get on the green and bowl,” he said.
“We want to open the club to everyone in the community.”
The Barefoot Bowls Tournament invites everyone to kick off their shoes and take part in the games.
The free event will include no charge tuition on the night and dinner.
