MELTON police have been cracking down on anti-social behaviour in and around Woodgrove Shopping Centre and CS Square in Caroline Springs these school holidays.
As part of Operation Walk Thru, police have been patrolling shopping centres and car parks with the aim of reducing shoplifting and motor vehicle offences, including theft from and theft of motor vehicles.
Police have also been speaking to business owners at the shopping precincts about how to stop shop theft.
Caroline Springs Leading Senior Constable Mark Zerafa said the operation had provided a highly visible police presence and allowed people to have a safe and enjoyable shopping experience.
He said it was the responsibility of parents to be aware of what their children were up to on the holidays.
“Parents should know where their kids are and what they are doing,” Leading Sen Const Zerafa said.
“Talk to your kids about what they are doing when they gather in Melton.”
“Come into Melton and enjoy meeting up with friends during the holidays, but do the right thing. Everyone should be able to go about their day knowing police are proactively aiming to reduce public order issues and anti-social behaviour at our shopping centres.”
Operation Walk Thru will end on Friday.
