SWIMMERS from Essendon Aquatic continue to reach outstanding levels in the pool.
The most recent wave of achievements saw 16-year-old Lushavel Stickland selected to represent Victoria at the 2013 State Teams Age Short Course Championships.
The Sunshine resident will compete against some of the best swimmers from around Australia at the event which will be held at the AIS in Canberra.
Also rising to the top was Newport’s Darcy Wilson who recently competed at the Victorian State Titles.
Wilson, who also plays football for the Western Jets, has now set his sights on reaching the Australian National Aged Championships in Brisbane next year.
Essendon Aquatic coach Chris Briffa was rapt with the achievements of both athletes.
“The club has invested a lot into its coaches and junior program which is why we are having success at states and more of our swimmers qualifying to compete at nationals,” he said.
“EDA is aiming to be a top 10 club in Victoria within three years.
“We get a lot of new members that come to us in the off season of other sports as it keeps them fit. Many have chosen to stay with us and do both sports. We then minimise their sessions once they are doing both sports.”
The Essendon Aquatic Swimming Club is on the lookout for new members in the coming months.
