ALTONA residents can now benefit from the national rollout of Australia Post’s new 24/7 parcel lockers.
The lockers, located at Altona Post Office, 44-48 Pier St, give people in Altona the chance to pick up their parcels at a time that’s convenient for them – 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
According to the postal corporation the boom in online shopping in Australia has meant 70 per cent of the parcels delivered by Australia Post come directly from online purchases.
“Unfortunately, with many people not at home during the day or allowed to receive personal parcels at work, residents were finding it difficult to receive their important online orders
during business hours,” a spokesperson said.
Australia Post chose Altona as one of 100 locations in Australia to receive 24/7 parcel lockers this year.
“We know Altona residents love to shop online with almost 300 parcels being delivered to locals through Australia Post every day.”
Australia Post Executive Parcel and Express Services general manager, Richard Umbers, said the parcel lockers were a convenient way for local residents and businesses to pick up their parcels from a secure 24-hour location.
“More than 35,000 customers have already registered to use the parcel locker service and they are clearly enjoying the convenience this service provides with more than half of parcels collected outside regular business hours.”
“The new Altona Parcel Lockers make it even easier for local residents to receive their parcels at a time that fits in with their day.
“Already 80 per cent of customers who use parcel lockers choose them as their preferred delivery method and we expect similar results in Altona.”
Local residents and businesses need to create a free Australia Post account and then register for the parcel lockers at auspost.com.au/parcel-lockers, selecting the Altona lockers as the delivery destination.
