The Sunshine Film Festival may have come and gone, but one film is still making its way around computer screens and TV screens across the state.
“Rising Sunshine Style” has gone viral on the Internet already, reaping close to 50,000 views on YouTube in only a week.
Robert Au, Michael Sandic and Paul Nguyen are the three masterminds behind the short film, which is a parody of the popular “Gangnam Style” clip by Psy.
The team of three said they had no idea the film would be so well received.
“We’re a bit shock, it’s surreal, we didn’t think it would blow up this big,” Mr Au said.
“A lot of people have enjoyed it and found it very funny.”
The film follows ‘Psy Poor’ brought to life by Paul, who takes audiences on a journey through Sunshine- the good, the bad and the yum.
Mr Au said Paul was perfect for the role.
“It was just meant to be, Paul has the charisma and personality that was right for the role,” Mr Au said.
“He is always the centre of attention and life of the party.”
Mr Au, who filmed and produced it with the assistance of Michael, said before making the film a Sunshine “pros” and “cons” list was jotted out.
The film digs at the overcrowded trains, dismantled council and “roadworks everywhere”.
And Psy Poor dreams of moving to another place- maybe Hawthorn or Toorak or even Keilor Downs.
But the yum factor , Vietnamese pho and Sunshine Charcoal Chicken, keeps the boys in town.
Scenes are shot at well-known places across the suburb including the station, cinemas, shopping centre, council chambers and HV McKay Memorial Gardens.
Audiences can stay tuned as the group prepares to produce another video in the near future.
